Hello AGS Families!
Our team is getting ready for the return of After School Tutoring (AST), which we plan to begin on September 29th. AST offers students a fantastic opportunity to receive additional support and a quiet place to complete classwork. The permission slip is attached here: AST Permission 2026-2027 If you need more information, it can likely be found in the Permission Slip. Please email Ms. Killian, Ms. Seelbinder, or Mr. Malecki if any other questions arise.
Additionally, we're asking for your partnership concerning energy drinks. Out Code of Conduct language around energy drinks is as follows: "To support a healthy, safe, and focused learning environment, energy drinks (such as Monster, Red Bull, Celsius, Alani Nu, and similar brands) are strictly prohibited inside the school building and at all school-sponsored activities. Any energy drinks brought into the building must remain unopened in a backpack. If open, energy drinks will be disposed of immediately. Repeated violations may result in disciplinary action." I want to share some final notes as we prepare for the First Day of School!
ARRIVAL!
Doors open and breakfast begin tomorrow at 7 am. Please remember that 7th and 8th grade students should report to their first hour class at 7:25 am. They can find their class by looking at StudentVue. ALL 6th grade students should report to the Cafetorium at 7:25 to receive a paper copy of their schedule and meet their teacher.
Families dropping students off at AGS have two options. You can drop your student at the Stadium Lot, and they can walk to AGS. A crossing guard helps to monitor students and get everyone here safely. You can also drop your student at the building. If this is your preference, please access the parking lot from Shiawassee Ave, drive toward the gymnasium on the east side of building.
Following these procedures will help ensure student safety during arrival. On behalf of our entire community, thank you for your partnership and commitment to student safety.
HAVE A CONVERSATION!
We need your partnership on a couple of important school rules as we get started. We will review these with students tomorrow, too. In our experience, if they hear it from us AND you, it all goes a bit more smoothly!
We have had a lot of work at AGS this summer! We have new furniture and new carpeting, and our school looks great. With that in mind, we expect students to only eat and drink on the tile in and around the Cafetorium. Water is the only food or drink that we will permit in carpeted areas and classrooms. This is a way we can support the investment our community made in our schools.
We are committed to prioritize learning for students, and eliminating tech distractions is instrumental in this work. Phones and SmartWatches should not be in classrooms. Please remind your students to keep this away during all classes and instructional time.

Michigan has approved universal free breakfast and free lunch for all Young 5s through 12th-grade students again this school year.
👉 What do you need to do?
We need all families to fill out the Education Benefits Form. Filling this form out may help your family become eligible for reduced fees on Chromebooks, Pay to Play sports, and IB testing fees. It also ensures the district receives additional funding for educational programs our students need.
We only need 1 form per family; please list all students on the form.
