Young Fives

Young Fives is a program offered by the Fenton Area Public Schools as precursor to Kindergarten. The program is designed for children who are chronologically or developmentally young (most often those that have late summer or Fall birthdays fall into this category, but not always) The Young Fives program addresses academic in addition to language development, fine motor skills and most importantly, social/emotional growth. The program is designed to meet the needs for students of all academic and social abilities. The Young Fives teachers follow Kindergarten curriculum at an adapted pace to meet the individual needs of our students.

The classroom schedules incorporate a balance of whole and small group instruction, seat work, inquiry and free play in the classroom. In addition, Young Fives students receive the same specials that are available at all of our elementary buildings. Every week, students will attend music, gym, art, library and the computer lab.
