Dear FAPS Families,
It has been brought to our attention that a walkout/protest is planned near our AGS and FHS campuses for today with both students and parents participating. We have been given information that there is a good possibility that this walkout/protest will include people from neighboring communities and school districts. We have also been given information pointing to people not associated with FAPS, or other local school districts, joining the walkout/protest near our middle school and high school campuses.
Please know that we have protocols and policies in place to keep our students safe and accounted for and will be following those protocols and policies today as we would any other day. The safety and security of our students and staff are the utmost priority when faced with potentially dangerous situations. While we certainly understand the importance of peacefully protesting, we are not supporting any event that has the potential of bringing a vast amount of people, including people not associated with our school community, on or near our school grounds. We will ensure the school day goes on as planned with safety as our number one priority.
To ensure our campuses are secure, the Fenton Police Department is helping us keep both the AGS parking lots and FHS parking lots open for staff and students only. Precautionary steps are being taken including having police officers on or near our campuses.
Thank you for being part of the solution when it comes to having a voice in a peaceful, responsible, safe way. We encourage our families to continue to communicate their concerns to the appropriate authorities in such a way that does not disrupt the school day or place anyone in a potentially dangerous situation.
Dr. Adam Hartley
